Information on the Statewide Major Party Primary Election
Tuesday August 11, 2026
A person voting at the state primary in August shall not be required to indicate his or her party choice to any election official. A voter will receive 3 ballots, Republican, Democrat, and Progressive. A voter shall vote for the candidates of one party only and vote only one ballot. (17 VSA 2363)
You must return the other two, non-voted ballots in order for us to be able to count the one ballot you are voting on.
Voters will need to request an Absentee Ballot if you want to vote by mail. Please contact the Town Clerk’s office to request an absentee ballot. The last day to request an absentee ballot is Thursday, August 6, 2024 before 3 pm.
Town Clerk’s office will be closed Monday August 10, 2026 to prepare for the election and Tuesday August 11, 2026 for the election.
Polls are open at 10 am until 7 pm on Tuesday August 11, 2026 at the West Rutland Town Hall Auditorium.
