PUBLIC NOTICE – Youngs Brook Dam Removal & Stream Restoration Project

PUBLIC NOTICE
Pursuant to Executive Order 11990 (Wetlands) and Federal Emergency Management Agency’s
(FEMA) implementing regulations at Title 44 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 9, FEMA
hereby provides initial notice of its intent to provide Pre-Disaster Mitigation Program funding for
an action located in a wetland. Funding would be provided through Vermont Emergency
Management to the Town of West Rutland for the Youngs Brook Dam Removal and Stream
Restoration Project.
The proposed action is located along Youngs Brook in West Rutland, VT. The project would
remove a damaged concrete dam and associated earthen embankment and stone masonry, as well
as remove impounded sediment and restore the stream channel. The project would improve
public safety and provide floodplain restoration.
The project is within a riverine wetland. A map of the area is available upon request. Map
requests and comments about this project and potential wetland impacts are encouraged to be
submitted within 15 days of the date of this publication to:
